COASTAL COLLABORATION VOLUME I

AN ALDER SMOKED STOUT IN COLLABORATION WITH FORT GEORGE BREWERY FOR CLATSOP COMMUNITY ACTION

Featuring Coren Tradd of Pelican Brewing Company and Dave Coyne of Fort George Brewery

When the Pelican Brewing R&D team started to ideate around this year’s Lone Pelican Series, they turned to their coastal roots as the spark that ignited this year’s collaboration series.

“Pelican is rooted in our coastal communities, not just from a business standpoint, but the people too. This is where we live, where we work, and where we choose to raise our families,” says Coren Tradd Pelican Brewing R&D Brewer. “With these deep ties to our homes, we knew we wanted to create a collaboration series that showcased our love for the coast and our commitment to creating more equitable communities.”

Pelican partnered with Astoria, Oregon powerhouse Fort George Brewery to create an Alder-Smoked Stout for the first installment of the Coastal Collaboration beers. Coren of Pelican and Dave Coyne, R&D Brewer at Fort George Brewery, dreamed of this unconventional and savory beer while enjoying a beer together in Astoria. They worked together to create a perfectly balanced yet complex beer influenced by Oregon’s treelined coast to create a smoky balanced beer that features chocolate and roasted coffee notes.

Additionally, 100% of this smooth, smoky stout proceeds will benefit Clatsop Community Action, a local non-profit agency specializing in helping people meet housing, food, and other basic living needs in Clatsop County, Oregon.

“At Fort George, we see our beer as a voice and way to enrich and take care of our community,” says Dave of Fort George Brewery. “We are always looking for opportunities to give back to our community as they have given so much to us, so for this collaboration beer with Pelican, we chose to donate 100% of the proceeds to Clatsop Community Action.”

Pelican’s year-long commitment to creating positive change in our coastal communities begins with the release of Coastal Collaboration Volume I, an Alder-Smoked Stout made in collaboration with Fort George Brewery. This complex but balanced savory beer is now available in 500 mL bottles at your local bottle shop, on draft at Pelican Brewpubs, and with Pelican’s new beer subscription service called the Beer Box.
