Pelican Brewing Company Receives New Bling at Oregon Beer Awards

Pelican’s Mother of All Storms honored with Bronze Medal in the barrel-aged category at the popular awards ceremony

Pacific City, Oregon (March 1, 2019)—Pelican Brewing Company this week earned another Bronze medal for Mother of All Storms English-style Bourbon Barrel-aged Barleywine. Mother, an 11x medal winner including five Gold medals at the Australian International Beer Awards, scoops more bling in the barrel-aged category at the 5th annual Oregon Beer Awards held in Portland this week at Revolution Hall.

Pelican crafted a sensation when it released Mother in 2009. It soon became a highly-coveted collectable and has been named one of the Top 100 Beers in the World and Top 25 Barrel-Aged Beers numerous times.

There are many storms out there, all of them perfect in their own way. But there is only one Mother of all Storms and it only happens on the Oregon Coast. Based on Stormwatcher’s Winterfest, our English-style barleywine, Mother of all Storms spends a year aging in Kentucky bourbon barrels. Mother delivers deep flavors of toasted malt, bourbon and oak. The finish rewards with whispers of vanilla, toffee and caramel. We suggest you hunker down, this beer is best enjoyed with winds in excess of 60mph. Ingredients include pale malt, malted white wheat, Midnight Wheat malt, Black Prinz malt, pure cane sugar, Magnum hops, Willamette hops, pure ale yeast.

ABV:   14%                IBU: 40          PLATO: 32º

The Oregon Beer Awards select and celebrate the state’s top beers in 25 categories, and honor Oregon’s exceptional breweries, bars and festivals in seven additional categories. It is the only statewide double-blind beer tasting competition in Oregon.
